Hi people,

I just buyed Ulead VideoStudio 9 (with PCI FireWire card).
In the beginning my vendor forgot to deliver me a serial number,
but he did it anyway after one day.
I installed it on one machine (just for test it).
Everything gone ok: installing, working.

I was trying to do the same on the second machine at my home.
Installation gone ok, BUTwhen I am trying to run application
it shows me an error "Codec TrialActivation has a serious error."

What is going on? What does it mean exactly ?
System fault? My fault? Ulead's bug? Wrong weather? ;)

On the first machine I have win2000 and everthing is ok.
On the second machine I have win XP with SP1 and I see start-splash only,
but when I choose any option then I receive this error.

What does it mean ?
Help me please.

Thanks
Hans

I'm not sure, as I don't have VideoStudio.

Product activation can usually be done once in total, or more times on one
computer. (Else you'd have to contact the software maker.) It is a copyright
protection scheme in addition to name and number. It usually needs
connecting to the Internet.

A codec (enCOder and DECoder) is a piece of software that allows converting
(playing and recording included) mutimedia files.
Ulead offers some video codecs as extras. Trial versions of these may have
been installed with your software, so that you can evaluate them for a
limited period or a limited number of times before you either buy a license
or stop using them.

I don't know if Ulead supports this, but you may be able to deactivate this
trial version of a codec on your first computer, then activate it on your
second.

Hope this helps, even if this may not be the ultimate answer. :-)

Thanks Chris, I already did it before and I hope it will works fine :)
When I will back home, I will check it immediatly.
It is not good Ulead's habit NO INFORMATION ABOUT REAL REASON OF ERROR.
They should give information about reasons, but they like magic errors more

"Magic error on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?" ;-)

On the other hand - Ulead may have had some reason to assume things known,
like though a ReadMe file with the sofware or through the practice by
Microsoft for the past few years.
